Winter Care Notification
Ripples and ridges in rolls – latex is a material which becomes less flexible in cold weather so it can be difficult for ripples and ridges (created while the grass is rolled up as a roll) to ‘drop out’ when the grass is fitted. In the spring and summer months latex stays warmer and flexible, allowing the latex to ‘drop’ when the roll is laid out, but in autumn/winter this is often not the case.
Winter Care:
This is a normal occurrence in cold weather and that the above steps will help to resolve it.
This cold weather issue only affects latex backed products. Polyurethane backed products such as Infinity and Mulsanne are not affected in the same way as PU remains very pliable in cold weather. It is also possible for the grass blades to be very flat and difficult to ‘pick up’ in cold weather. In warm months the sun and warmth will naturally expand the fibres/blades, allowing them to pick up. In cold weather this process takes longer so we should advise all customers that a power brush, used multiple times on the newly laid grass, is necessary and advisable to give the best possible finish. In addition, hot water can be used it pick up the blades where they are very resistant!
